Enjoy two day Luxor & Aswan tours from Marsa Alam. On day one, you will visit the most famous attractions in Luxor like Karnak temple, Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut temple then catch your 1st class train to Aswan and overnight upon your arrival. On day two, continue visiting the archaeological sites in Upper Egypt by visiting the High Dam, Unfinished Obelisk and Philae Temple
Day 1 :We will take you to Luxor right from your hotel by a comfortable air-contitioned bus. First you will visit Karnak Temple, the largest place of worship ever built. Its ancient name ipet-isut means ‘the most sacred place’. The temple complex was being built over 2000 years by generations of pharaohs. The great “Hypo-style Hall” is an incredible forest of gain pillars. After lunch at a restaurant on the Nile, you will take a trip to the west bank of this wonderful river to visit the two colossal statues of Amenhotep III Colossi of Memnon, followed by the Valley of Kings, where magnificent tombs were discovered. Those tombs were carved deep into the desert rock, richly decorated and filled with treasures for the pharaoh’s after-life. You will also visit the great Hatshepsut Temple.This impressive temple dedicated to Queen Hatshepsut, the only female pharaoh in Ancient Egypt, rises out of the desert plain in a series of terraces and mirages. After that we will take you to see alabaster workshops, where Egyptians manually produce their shop-products. We will take you to Aswan, accomodation at the hotel 4*, dinner, free time.
Day 2 After breakfast you will visit the High Dam of Aswan, an engineering miracle, built in the 1960s. From the top of the High Dam, you will see a wonderful panorama across Lake Nasser to Kalabsha Temple in the south and a huge power station to the north. Continue to the Unfinished Obelisk in the granite quarries of Aswan where much of the red granite used for ancient temples and colossi came from. The Unfinished Obelisk still lies where it was carved when a crack was discovered while being hewn from the rock. Your qualified Egyptologist guide will explain how the 1-tonne obelisk was carved, and why the crack caused it to be abandoned. After that we will take a break and have a delicious lunch in a restaurant. The last of the three famous Aswan sites you will see are generally regarded as the best. Philae Temple was carefully moved to its current location (around 500 metres from the original site) when the construction of the High Dam caused the Nile waters to rise. A short motorboat ride will take you on the island for a walking tour to see the famous Philae Temple before giving you some free time to explore further on your own. Dedicated to the goddess Isis, Philae Temple has a beautiful setting in the river, which had been landscaped to match its original site.
Aftrenoon we will drive back to Marsa Alam.
